How to store antique wood?
I have a super old antique bed...Its just been sitting in a closet for 4 or 5 years and I'm wondering if I need to pull it out to maybe oil it or something or maybe there is something I can get that will protect/moiturize while it sits in storage...Out of sight out of mind...But its a beautiful bed and I don't want to ruin it with neglect...Thanks!
Not too sure what kind of wood it is...dark honey color
A lot depends on the finish. If it really is old it probably has a oil finish. If it hasn't turned yellow, I would feel it is a oil finish. A good wax would do. So would a oil wipe.
Better yet, find a wood worker you trust, and have them give you more info. Generally woodworkers love doing this.
