Can you build a BBQ island out of a wood cabinet?
My husband informed me he was going to build a island for our BBQ. Sounded great until he told me he was going to build it out of a wooden kitchen cabinet! When I explained to him that wood plus intense heat equals fire he assured me that he would fireproof it with insulation and aluminum sheetmetal. He is going to burn it down because I don't see anyway that he can insulate it enough with fiberglass insulation and sheetmetal.
Am I right is thinking that this is a completely foolish idea?
To me the biggest problem here would be the elements not heat from the BBQ, wooden kitchen cabinet are usually made the MDF and alike, after some weeks of the elements (even if under cover) and you'll be using the island as fire wood anyway.
