What is a clock spring & what does it do in a vehicles steering column?
The clockspring supplies the power to the air bag module under the steering wheel.
They are also used to power up radio buttons, and cruise control buttons and such.
Think about it. Those all need a power supply, but if you send a wire harness to them the will always get twisted when you steer and eventually break. The clockspring uses constant rings to supply them.
