How can we stop comparing?
It seems like a disease, this comparing oneself with other people. I do that sometimes too. How can we stop this.
Some Zen saying."Comparison brings inferiority, superiority. When you don't compare, all inferiority, all superiority, disappears. Then you are, you are simply there. A small bush or a big high tree--it doesn't matter; you are yourself. You are needed. A grass leaf is needed as much as the biggest star. Without the grass leaf God will be less than he is. This sound of the cuckoo is needed as much as any Buddha; the world will be less, will be less rich if this cuckoo disappears. Just look around. All is needed, and everything fits together. It is an organic unity: nobody is higher and nobody is lower, nobody superior, nobody inferior. Everybody is incomparably unique."
People who compare leave themselves open to disappointment, for no two things are the same, They may look alike but each thing person or place has it's own uniqueness and when we compare we fail to see it.
What we do see are our hopes and aspirations a diluted and biased view of them. To compare is to miss out on originality and embrace vague and unoriginal fragments of reality.
Comparing is for the undecided and it makes deciding more impossible . Comparing is also for the unsatisfied.
How do you stop comparing you ask and i say be grateful and not take things persons or property for granted. Be satisfied when your not and face reality when you can't.
All of those things will help you not to compare. when you read
