School Regulator
alternator problem with my 1981 ford f150?
i bought the truck a few months ago and it ran just fine, the motor is a 351 v8 5.8 ltr. one day i got in it to go to school and it wouldnt turn on, i had a mechanic tell me that it was the alternator, i put a new alternator in but it still wont keep the battery charged, and im 100% sure that its hooked up right. my uncle told me his old ford truck used to do the same thing after he put a new alternator in, so he put a new voltage regulator in and it started working, im not sure but i need some advice from an mechanic that if i buy a new voltage regulator that it would fix the problem
Get your battery tested first. Your alternator may be working just find but your battery could be the one that is not holding the charge. Get that tested first at autozone then move on to spending money. Autozone will test it for free just take it to them.
