old sessions mantle clock?
I have an old sessions windup clock - it seems to be wound up - and i start the ?pendulum? but it doesnt keep goin just stops after a bit. not sure what im doing wrong. there are two springs to wind - and some kind of adjusment on th top of the face of the clock. all require a key
Your clock needs to be cleaned. The gummed-up oil on the pivots and bearing holes is preventing it from running. A mechanical clock should be cleaned every few years for best performance. DON'T just spray the mechanism with WD-40 or 3-In-1 and expect it to run properly, it will only make things worse. Sessions made very good clocks and it's worth the expense of getting it cleaned. Any clock shop can do the work. Your clock is a striking clock. One of the winding arbors is for the time chain, the other one is for the striking chain. The time and strike mechanisms are seperate; that's why they have seperate springs. The adjustment is a beat regulator that adjusts for fast or slow. When running well these clocks are very accurate.
