Walnut Finish
How can I repair the damage rubbing alcohol has done to a veneer finish?
Rubbing alcohol was accidentally spilled onto my bookcase. It has a walnut colored veneer finish. Now it has white splotches where the rubbing alcohol touched it. I'm not sure what vintage the bookcase is, but I'm assuming that it is from the 1960s or 1970s. Please help me with this as it was given to me by a dear elderly friend who passed away several years ago.

You might want to go to the hardware store or Home Depot, there's a lot of products around that you can use to rub over the spots. Talk to someone in that department.
I had chunks out of my best coffee table while transporting it my husband dropped it on the pavement, and they had something like a crayon to rub over it. It worked like a charm, now it just looks antique or as they say distressed. Actually it added character to the darn thing. Good Luck
